glass Fusing
Each participant will learn how to safely and effectively cut and break glass to arrange into their very own works of art. Participants can expect to make several 1-4” projects depending on how the time is used. Projects include pendants, magnets, suncatchers and coasters. This option will give you approximately three hours of work time and instruction in our studio.
GLASS FUSING AND GLASSBLOWING DEMO
This event will allow participants hands on access to glass fusing and will consist of an introduction to the shop and space at our studio as well as instruction on how to construct a small fused glass project. Projects include pendants, magnets, suncatchers and coasters.. Everyone would have about 90 minutes of time to make and complete their projects at which time we will move into the glassblowing area to watch a professional demonstration of glassblowing.
GLASS FUSING AND GLASSBLOWING EXPERIENCE
This event will allow participants hands-on access to both glassblowing and fusing and will consist of an introduction to the shop and space at our studio as well as instructions on how to construct several small fused glass projects. These would consist of pendants, magnets, suncatchers and coasters. While the group works on the fusing projects up to 3 people at a time will be brought into the glassblowing area and introduced to the equipment and helped through the process of making their very own paperweight made with their choice of colors. Once the object is created, these students can return to their fusing project. Each glassblowing piece will take approximately 20 minutes to make and the rest of the time can be spent creating fused glass projects as well as socializing and/or watching others participate. The time needed for this event depends on the number of participants.
GLASSBLOWING 101 CLASS
This is our most in-depth glassblowing option! In a 3 hour timeframe, every participant will learn how to safely gather molten glass before applying color and shaping it into their own works of art. The project will be determined ahead of time and some examples include paperweights, pumpkins, and window ornaments. This option can either be 3 hours long in which each participant will complete at least one project on their own. The maximum group size for this option is 9 people.
policies and procedures
No experience is required for these events! Participants must be 14 years of age to be eligible. We will need a $200-$500 non-refundable deposit in order to hold your date. All projects will require a cooling period before they can be taken home, blown glass will need 48 hours, and fusing projects will need 7-10 business days. Projects will be wrapped and labeled and picked up by the group contact person. Groups may choose to bring refreshments, snacks, or catering for their participants. If you would like to do this we ask you to make sure to provide ALL necessary accoutrements: plates, napkins, cups, utensils, etc. Also, please let us know your plans ahead of time so we can be sure to provide you with the proper space for your food and beverages.
