*STUDENTS MUST BE 14 YEARS OR OLDER TO PARTICIPATE.*
Here is what we have for our experienced students...
~please note that a one-day workshop will not qualify you for the skill level needed for the classes below~
The terms "experienced beginner", "advanced beginner", and "intermediate/ advanced" are subjective and tend to change with our evolving student body. All of the classes below are for experienced students only. If you are joining us with experience from a different studio we highly recommend working one on one with an instructor before requesting to be in a class. This is to ensure that you are placed in the appropriate class for your skill level when a spot opens up.
There are no online sign ups for these classes, instead we ask that you email us. Requests are first come first servewith priority given to students that were signed up for the previous session. Although we wish we could accommodate everyone, these classes often fill quickly with returning students. If you miss out, reach out to us about private lessons! Please be patient with our slow response time after classes are announced as we let the requests come in before getting back to everyone.
1- DAY CARVING WORKSHOPS w/ Tom Liu *NEW* MULTIPLE DAYS: 9:00am-1:30pm March 21 April 11 May 16 LEVEL: SOME GLASSBLOWING EXPERIENCE RECOMMENDED COST: $225 These one-day classes will serve as an introduction to using the carving lathe to decorate your glass. We will start with understanding the basic wheel shapes and their uses and progress quickly from flat glass to vessels of different shapes which we will have on hand for you to use. This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill or build upon the ones you have learned so far while staying under the watchful eye of an instructor. Some glassblowing experience is useful but not as important a requirement as enthusiasm. The content of these sessions will be tailored to each individual student's experience and interest. The goal of these sessions is to get students to the point where they can rent the equipment independently. This will likely take about 3 sessions for most. *this is not a 6 week class, but individual drop in days, e-mail to sign up*
"EXPLORING FORM" w/ Kevin Dunn MONDAYS: 6:30-9:30pm LEVEL: EXPERIENCED BEGINNER STARTS March 2nd COST: $725 This class will allow students to explore how to utilize different set ups to make a larger variety of shapes. We will focus on glass, body, and tool position to develop new forms. This class is recommended for those who have completed a six-week glassblowing class or two and are looking to expand their repertoire beyond the drinking glass.
"MEDIEVAL GLASS" w/ Shannon Floyd TUESDAYS: 6:30-9:30pm: LEVEL: ADVANCED BEGINNER STARTS: MARCH 3rd COST: $725 This class will focus on making glass in the medieval style. With lots of decorations to keep your wine from slipping out of your greasy medieval hands! Looking back at glass made during this time there are some pretty challenging techniques, some beautiful techniques, and then some really kind of questionable application techniques. This class will be a fun one with lots of teamwork and weird ideas....the best combination!
"INTRO TO CANE" w/ DJ Benyosef WEDNESDAYS: 6:30-9:30pm: LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE/ ADVANCED STARTS MARCH 4th COST: $750 This class will be an in depth study into the process of working with cane start to finish: pulling, cutting, heating, rolling up, blowing out, and making beautiful work! This class is intended for our more experienced students who are quite comfortable in the shop and will be juried as such. Please note the difference in tuition due to the heavy color usage in this class that is expected to go well beyond what we normally use in a class.
"STICK THE LANDING: GARAGE BASICS" w/ Emery Wenger THURSDAYS: 6:30-9:30pm: LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE/ ADVANCED STARTS MARCH 5th COST: $725 In this class, we will begin to explore the process of assembling glass! We will start with simple assemblies making basic candle sticks. As our skill and understanding of heat and timing progresses, we will use the garage for more complex assembly. A heavy focus on teamwork, communication, and timing will be key to our success!
