WEEKLY HOTSHOP CLASSES WINTER 2020 SESSION 2 *we are not currently offering classes due to the pandemic* take a look at what we offered last winter!
MONDAYS 6:30-9:30pm: LEVEL: ADVANCED BEGINNER STARTS FEBRUARY 24th This class will be a fun intro/ refresher to various color techniques. We will discuss various frit applications as well as some color bar. We will frit twist, wrap, and rake, and wrap some more. We will keep our shapes simple so we can focus on the technique and hand skills it takes to master them while still making colorful and interesting pieces. COST: $690 *THIS CLASS IS FULL*
TUESDAYS 6:30-9:30pm: LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE STARTS FEBRUARY 25th In this class we will focus on making our pieces more interesting by adding TEXTURAL elements. By working with the roller wrap, cane, optic molds, and crackle we will learn to exploit these surface qualities by focusing on working quickly and taking short heats to keep as much of the texture as possible. COST: $690
WEDNESDAYS 6:30-9:30pm: LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE/ ADVANCED STARTS FEBRUARY 26th In this class we will explore the use of our new and improved garage to aid in each students' progress in designing interesting work. We will be using the garage each week and examining everything from goblet assembly, to encalmo, to stuff cups, sculpture assembly and more! Projects will be driven by student ideas so come with ideas in mind! COST: $690
THURSDAYS 6:30-9:30pm: LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE/ ADVANCED STARTS FEBRUARY 27th This class will be an introduction to the process of pulling MURRINE. We will spend a lot of our time constructing and designing colorful murrine pulls. Some will be simple as we get our feet wet, then we will do some more complex designs which will be RE-PULLED. We will spend the last few weeks processing and chopping our murrine and learning various methods of picking it up in the hot shop to make awesome work! COST: $690 *THIS CLASS IS FULL*
SUNDAYS 2:30-5:30pm: LEVEL: BEGINNER 3 WEEKS STARTS MARCH 22nd This is your chance to try glassblowing. This class can be the next step for any student who has taken a weekend workshop, or the first step for someone who wants to learn the basics of blowing glass. After a refresher/ introduction on how to gather, marver, and blow a bubble, we will focus our time on teamwork and making drinking vessels. No experience necessary. COST: $350
